A fundraiser in honour of the Yonge Street attack victim Anne Marie D’Amico managed to raise over $600,000 for the North York Women’s Shelter (NYWS), with the goal of the D’Amico Foundation being to raise no less than $1 million for NYWS.
Meridian Credit Union announced that it would be matching individual, dollar-for-dollar donations to the foundation up to $25,000 until 10th December, which is an addition to the $25,000 the company has already made.

The funds are intended to help NYWS provide essential services, such as toiletries and school supplies for children, as well as toys and clothing.
Foundation president and D’Amico’s brother Nick D’Amico stated that the foundation is pleased to have raised a total of $615,000 and proceed to add that “last night’s event is another reminder of what can happen when a community comes together in support of a good cause.”.
